Updates!!
Tito now Kilo
adopted 2006
update Mar 2008
Life is grand. Kilo is great. He's a real happy boy. I take him
skateboarding every morning. Diana and Kilo do Runyon Canyon almost
every day. Sometimes he does day care over at Chateau Marmutt, on 3rd.
It took him some time to warm up to it, but now he gets excited to go.
He plays great with our friends dogs. He's come a really long way from
that little nervous guy you brought over to us. We couldn't thank you
and Nikki enough. We never thought we could have a little best friend,
we would love so much, like Kilo. Here's some photos of the rascal.

Gertie now Tasha
adopted 2006
update 2008
Tasha is doing just great. We
are completely in love with her and can't believe our luck in finding
her. She is a total beach bum. I have taken her hiking out in Temescal
Canyon and over at Kenneth Hahn State Park in the past few weeks- she
has an OK time but she is only truly happy on our beach walks. We were
doing a regular sunrise walk every day for a while because dogs aren't
allowed on the beach during the day- but I needed a break from the 6am
wake up time- so our new passion is jumping on the ducks in the venice
canals (we almost caught one last time). I am sending a bunch of pics
your way- tell me what you think. People tell me how beautiful she is
all the time. I couldn't agree more. Second email with more pics to
follow.

Wyatt now Watson
adopted 2006
update 2/2008

Every day my husband, Peter, and I awake to the warm licks of our
loving giant size Jack Russell Terrier mix. We are so thankful that Jf
and Nikki saved his life, for he has saved ours! Everyone just adores
Watson. He's been called "the wonder dog", "the love bug", and even "a
sexy little man"! Watson just loves to snuggle and has found his way
right under the comforter on many a chilly night. The fact that he
likes the neck support pillow too is no surprise. Oh and put a bowl of
cashews within his reach and he'll consume the contents. Watson is so
special, we can't imagine being without him.
All my best,
Anna

Felix now Cash
adopted 2006
update 2/2008

Can you believe Felix, now known as Cash, 'the dog in black' is 1 &1/2
years old?
There are few words to describe the great experience of watching him
grow up.
When he was 4 months old we went to dog school & he had a blast learning
new skills and good behavior.
His heart is huge, his voice deep and the patter of his feet is music to
my soul.
So, a giant thank-you Mutt Scouts for saving Felix from the shelter.
My appreciation for the opportunity to give him a home is lifelong.

80 & Betty
adopted 2006
update 2008

80 and Betty are getting big and we are all having fun. Betty (who was born blind) has been seeing (no pun intended) a doctor and is doing well – she is so sweet. 80 has taken a few dog agility classes and really likes it and she is a bundle of energy. The girls love to run, play with each other, sleep on top of each other and go with us in the car.
We are looking forward to having a reunion with our brothers and our mom Emma (in the bee costume). We see our sister Ori (she has the big ears) often and we all have a good time playing.

Clutch now Willie
adopted 1/08
We are doing good. Here is a picture how they worked
It is going good as you can see.
it out who gets to sit where. Thanks for everything.
This
picture was taken during our evening
PS: We discovered he does not like things
'playtime'. He is just so eager to please. pointed at him (camera) but we are
going to take more pictures and let you
see his progress. He loves his walks
on the leash now and just goes along
with the flow. Thanks
We have started taking Willie and
Lucie to the local dog park for small animals (weather permitting) and he's
coming along good. We just love him and we get lots of kisses from him. It's
like he's always has been here. He comes when called, sits and stays (we're up
to 15 seconds) but hey we're proud. Will send you some more pictures in the
near future//Maisy

Francie now Fancy, was rescued from North Central Shelter. She had stage 4 (the worst) luxating patella in both back legs.
Thanks to some REALLY AMAZING PEOPLE WHO DONATED TOWARDS HER
SURGERY SHE IS NOW HAPPY & HEALTHY ...and able to run and
play like a normal dog. Our deepest gratitude to all who helped
make it possible!
Below is an update from her mom Nancy....
Just wanted to give you a progress report. Fancy is doing absolutely
fabulous! She runs everywhere and jumps easily up on the couch. If there is
a box on the floor, or a backpack, or anything, she jumps up on it and sits
there waiting to be noticed.
Her coat has gotten so much thicker and softer, it's really very pretty and
she likes to be told how beautiful and special she is.
I think her favorite activity is rough-housing with the 1 year old Shih Tzu,
Ting. She pulls Ting by her topknot, her ears, her beard, whatever she can
grab, and Ting just goes back for more. She also plays with her Chi sister,
but not as vigorously since Wilowe is 8 or 9 years old.
Nikki, hope you found a great place to live with your adoptive pack!

Cecil
adopted 1/2003
update 1/2008
I fell in love with Cecil the moment I laid eyes on
him! Not a day goes by that I don't thank Nikki from
the bottom of my heart for rescuing this precious
little beast and allowing me to adopt him. I had never
had my own dog before, and I was scared to take on the
responsibility. But now, five years later, I can't
imagine life without Cecil. He has brought my
boyfriend and I (and my parents!) so much joy, words
cannot describe how grateful we are and how blessed we
feel to have him in our lives.
Sincerely,
JENNY ABEL

update 11/07
I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving holiday!
We had a great time at The Cliffs hotel at Shell Beach (near Pismo). We
stayed at this dog-friendly hotel with plenty of areas and paths for dog
walking and a great dog beach.
I will send pictures later when my husband brings the camera back from
work....I got some great ones of LuLu when she wasn't paying attention :)

It was great to hear from you. I wanted to give you
an update on Wilson. He is doing very well! My baby,
Jack, is now 4 1/2 months old and Wilson is doing fine
with him so far. From the minute we brought Jack
home, Wilson was welcoming to him.
We are getting ready to take Wilson on the plane to
Pittsburgh for his fourth Christmas there! He has
gotten pretty good at air travel! Wilson is a
wonderful dog and we LOVE him! He has made huge
strides since we first adopted him. He is much more
comfortable around people. We worked with a trainer a
few years ago who gave us lots of good tips to use
with Wilson and they have been very useful.
I have attached some pictures of Wilson for you to
see. I hope all is going well for you. Thank you so
much for bringing Wilson into our lives!
Love,
Colleen, Jason, Wilson, and Baby Jack

I can't tell you how much we love Emma, she is just the sweetest girl,
and we feel so absolutely blessed to have her in our lives.
I
hope you guys are well and just want to thank you for the work you all
do. Probably within the next year or so, we might look into getting a
buddy for Emma so we'll definitely be coming back to you guys.

Annie
adopted 07/07
update

We love every day with our dear Annie! She is truly a great addition
to our home. We are finding that she is still coming our of her
shell. She tests new boundaries every day. We never know quite what
to expect.
Annie loves her walks and park romps. It is so obvious that she loves
scratching her tummy on the grass (this is how she got the nick-name
"Fox Hole Annie". She crawls along on her belly. She also is know as
"Indy-Annie Bones" because she loves adventure and exploring,
"Polka-Dot" because she is just so cute. When she is trying to get
something from you with her Southern belle eyes we call her
"Annabelle". When she is trying our patience she is called "Annie-kin
Skywalker". Usually the conversation goes something like, "Annie-kin
Skywalker, drop that sock before you cross over to the dark side!"
She keeps us smiling and keeps the sock
companies of the world busy.
Sincerely,
Mindy
and Tom, Ranger, and Annie
