Happy Endings

On Sunday, we went to visit one of my all time favorite rescues in her home.
An animal lover friend of mine emailed me her shelter photo. Every time I went to the shelter she was curled up in a ball or she spent most of her time hiding under the raised bed in the kennel. She would never come up to the front of the cage.
I called the shelter when I saw her on the euthanasia list and the shelter m,anager said they were just taking her out of the cage to euthanize her. He told me I had a half hour to get down there if I wanted to bail her out.
When I got there they told me she was fractious and that when they took her out of the cage if I decided not to take her they would take her directly into the backroom to euthanize her. She literally shit herself when they dragged her out of the cage. I sat with her for a few minutes not daring to get too close for fear of getting bit. I thought to myself that it was a really bad idea to get a fractious dog out. How would I ever get her adopted? But I decided to take a huge chance. I bailed her out.
It took weeks to get her to trust me- and I could barely ever get her into the house- she lived under my house- her little den. She was always very nervous around people.
Then one day a wonderful woman came along and she too took a chance on Sage.
Sage now lives with Dianne and has 2 brothers Max & Bailey. There is no better feeling in the world than seeing that little terrified Sage so happy with her family!!!

That's right Sage -you go girl- sure beats the South LA shelter!!
