Happy Endings
Dino was turned into the shelter when his previous owners could not afford his vet bills. As they turned Dino over to me - Dino had actual tears in his eyes. It was really sad... He had a chronic hacking cough and was covered in fleas. In mean COVERED! I have never seen so many fleas on a dog- they were swarming! I brought Dino to Dr Hohne at East Valley vet hospital where he did a series of tests to rule out cancer, heart problems etc. It was determined that Dino had a horrible case of bronchitis that had been left untreated for years. The first application I recieved for Dino turned out to be the match made in heaven![this has never happened before!]
Hi Nikki...We are having so much fun with Dino. He is such an awesome little guy! (We kept his name because he clearly knows who he is)
The first day we had him he had a temperature from the shots and slept throughout the night. He has claimed a spot on our couch in the corner on top one of the pillows. The next day he was spunky and snooping into everything when he wasn't being held by one of us! At night he has found a spot between my husband and me and sleeps on his back, how funny is that!.
He is slowly making friends with my shep/mix. She is leary of him because he charges her and she's so mellow. My little old guy has found a new buddy and they roam the house together and sleep next to each other. He had a few accidents in the house the 1st and 2nd days but now is following the other dogs and uses the backyard and enjoys the many daily walks. He's quickly learned about the puppy snak system!
We had given him the last of the pills the day after the shots and by the following day he was back to hacking and wheezing. We drove to East Valley Clinic , which is where my sister takes her dogs too, and had a great visit with Dr. Hohne who is wonderful! He did inform us that he believes that Dino will always have chronic bronchitis(due to it being untreated for such a long time) and we will be able to control it with lifelong 2x daily pill treatments. Don't worry...we are more than happy to take on that feat and we actually know a vet in Mexico and can get the same pills at a much reduced cost.
Any way, you were right...he is a silly little dog. Very snoopy and playful...Constantly making us laugh and he is so loving, like a little baby. Already he has brought us much happiness and we love him so. A perfect fit in our family!
Thanks so much for saving him from certain death and having enough confidence in letting us adopt Dino. Sometimes I look at him and am sad to think he was left outside, covered in fleas and being so unhappy from being so sick. It is beyond me how someone could be so cruel to something so sweet, loving and darling as he is.Please be rest assured he will be loved unconditionally and very well taken care of the rest of his little dog life...and I know you will be happy to know, he no longer cries...
Take care and thanks again!
