The Mutt Scouts
Animal Society
About Us
still in progress....

We here at The Mutt Scouts believe in second chances...and in many cases third and fourth as well.
It has been said that 'every dog has its day' and while that is a hope what we do know is that every dog
(and cat) has its own story. Where many rescue groups are breed specific, we are not. Where you will find others that only will accept cute and immediately place-able dogs, you will not find us. To be sure, we have our share of adorable
dogs and plenitude of puppies, but we do not shy away from the extra special animal that may take more
nurturing, more care and often more time before they are ready to join their new families.
A large sector of society wants a particular breed of pet and will go to extra lengths and top dollar to
achieve that. We are most proud of advocating and supporting the idea of owning a 'mix' dog or "mutt" as an alternative
to a pure bred or 'store bought canine. Mixed dogs generally have a healthier constitution than purebreds and certainly
are not lacking in their beauty nor their loyalty. And as a frighteningly large number of people still have
not accepted the words "spay" or "neuter" into their vocabularies, there are a large number of unwanted,
abandoned and neglected mixed dogs seeking the love and trust they deserve.
So, daily, we watch and we listen. First to the dogs that we are able to save...and then to their
individual stories. We work relentlessly on behalf of animals that do not have a voice in society. Everyone has
fond story of a dog they once knew in their lives...what we do happily, is work to find and match
the right human with the right companion so that a whole new generation of stories and memories can be created.
Thank you.

A MuttScouts Meeting...
From the beginning of life, Jf, was better acquainted with animals than fellow humans. In the saddle by two years old, his teen years were focused on horses, becoming a champion western rider. Hugely aware of animals and people that were cast out/neglected by society, Jf started rescuing animals and working with at risk/incarcerated youth. Making his living playing bad guys/disenfranchised characters on t.v. and in indy film, Jf works The Mutt Scouts out of Los Angeles. Working on finishing his first novel, there is no time yet for a blog, but more can be viewed here at his myspace page.
